As the manager of Dining Services at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Achim Mielke oversees all food services functions for the Foundation and the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Mielke was the general manager/director of food services for American Food and Vending, where he directed several corporate accounts, including the Kauffman Foundation; managed staff; developed budgets, operating plans, and menus; and created and implemented health and wellness programs.
Earlier, Mielke was a food service manager for Phelps Technologies, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo. He also served as owner/partner of Premiere Catering, LLC and worked as a chef and sauté chef in Kansas City-area restaurants.
Mielke earned an associate’s degree from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan., where he also completed the chef apprenticeship and hospitality management programs. He is the recipient of the 2006, 2008, and 2011 Food Excellence Award given by the Kansas City Health Department, and was featured in the April 2007 issue of Food Service Director trade magazine.
