This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy

Entrepreneurial pulse

With two more weeks in session before the August recess, there are several topics getting a look during committee hearings on both sides of Capitol Hill. In the Senate, SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet and Shark Tank's Barbara Corcoran help the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee explore challenges and opportunities to increase the ranks of female entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, the Senate Finance Committee discusses the current U.S. system of international taxation. In the House, the Small Business Committee examines private sector actions of the Small Business Administration, National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense following the changes contained in the reauthorization of the SBIR and STTR Programs. Other topics covered include: assessing Dodd-Frank, minimum wage, copyright remedies, modernizing environmental regulations for businesses and more.
