This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy: Monetary Policy, Regulatory Reform and Drones

The biggest buzz on Capitol Hill this week is likely to be made by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing to explore the FIFA scandal and the “integrity of international soccer.” Meanwhile, there are several hearings that might be a bit more meaningful to followers of the entrepreneurial economy.

Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen makes appearances on both sides of the Hill regarding monetary policy and the state of the U.S. economy. Expect her to get plenty of questions about the likelihood and timing of a widely anticipated interest rate hike.

Howard Shelanski, head of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, will also testify in a pair of hearings on how OIRA can help improve federal agency regulatory actions and facilitate greater transparency.

In the House Small Business Committee, the focus is on drones and how entrepreneurs and small business owners plan to use them as the FAA works to integrate them into the national airspace system.

Other topics covered by hearings and meetings in the week ahead include the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s semi-annual report to Congress and small business energy development and energy-intensive manufacturing.
