This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy: Taming Taxes for Entrepreneurs

With only a couple weeks left before Washington turns into a ghost town for August, there are a number of committee hearings on tap this week. Simplifying tax burdens for entrepreneurs and small business owners is at the top of the list.

On Wednesday, both the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and House Small Business Committee will hear testimony from tax experts and entrepreneurs on the topic. Meanwhile, the Senate Finance Committee is holding a markup of a bill to extend certain tax provisions for individuals and businesses, including tax credits for research and new markets.

Other topics covered by hearings and meetings in the week ahead include broadband infrastructure, cyber security, immigration, health apps, Dodd-Frank and revitalizing brownfields.
