This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy: Regulatory Burdens and Veteran Entrepreneurs

As members of Congress look ahead to the Independence Day recess next week, most talk on Capitol Hill this week will focus on trade and looming spending battles. In the meantime, there are several scheduled committee hearings to note.

In the Senate, the Budget Committee and the Committee for Homeland Security and Government Affairs explore the true cost of regulation and the possibility of a regulatory budget that would track – and set a cap on – the cost of government rules on businesses.

Veterans get some consideration on both sides of the Hill as well. The Senate Committee for Small Business and Entrepreneurship is set to look for ways to promote entrepreneurship among vets and their families while the House Small Business Committee looks into “Manipulation and Fraud in Reporting of Veterans’ Affairs Small Business Goals.”

Other topics covered by hearings and meetings in the week ahead include the impact of GSA’s proposed transactional data requirements on small businesses and the connected roadways of the future.
