This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy: Going Global from Day One

Any entrepreneur can tell you that a startup is essentially global from day one. With a low barrier of entry, global traffic and millions of customers shopping online each day, eBay has become more than a simple auction site for used good -- more than 90 percent of U.S. small businesses on the platform now export.

This Wednesday, the House Committee on Small Business will hear from the head of eBay’s Global Public Policy Lab on how to expand the role of small businesses in global commerce. The hearing will examine “ongoing trade negotiations, the Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 and the impact of U.S. trade policy on small businesses.

In the Senate, the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship is scheduled to examine proposed environmental regulations and their impacts on small businesses.

Other topics covered by hearings in the week ahead include: improving capital access, commercial space regulation, competitiveness, relations with Cuba and cyber threats.
