While roughly 10 million people will take part in Global Entrepreneurship Week events in 160 countries, the House Small Business Committee will shine a spotlight on the benefits of entrepreneurship to the American economy. According to the committee’s notice, the National Entrepreneurs’ Day hearing “will examine methods utilized and cultivated by entrepreneurs to achieve prosperity, such as capitalizing on emerging industries and fostering innovation. The hearing also will examine the challenges present in today’s economy which may affect an entrepreneur’s ability to succeed.”

Meanwhile, actor and gender equality advocate Geena Davis will testify before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs about increasing opportunities to drive international development through supporting women and technology.

Other topics covered by committee hearings and meetings this week include:  millennial voices on advancing the American dream, oversight of the Federal Communications Commission, commercializing earth science, the Securities and Exchange Commission, disruptive drone technology and more.
