Kansas City METS Connection E-newsletter

The METS Connections e-newsletter focuses on innovative and successful math, engineering, technology and science (METS) programs taking place in K-12 classrooms throughout Kansas City. It provides educators and others with fresh approaches to reaching students. It also is designed to be a source of information sharing among the academic community. Educators are invited to share their own stories with us and to contact the sources listed within for more details on programs, or to get involved.

This e-newsletter is one of the first steps in creating true METS Connections – connecting math and science educators across the region. The Kauffman Foundation is working to help educators learn about new programs and professional development offerings. More importantly, this e-newsletter offers a tool to encourage educators to share with others what they are learning and experiencing as they find successful ways to advance best practices to improve student achievement in math and science.

The Foundation's 10-year educational agenda is a long-term, multifaceted approach to help the Kansas City area become a model for outstanding math, engineering, technology and science education. The Kauffman Foundation’s goal is to provide students in schools throughout the greater Kansas City area with an increased understanding of how METS subjects can be applied to solve real-world problems. We also believe that collectively our community can make the Kansas City region a national model in how it equips its students with the math and science skills they will need for 21st century careers.
