Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are among the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. These awards recognize highly qualified teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.

Winners receive the following:

  • A citation signed by the President of the United States
  • A paid trip for two to Washington, D.C., to attend a week-long series of recognition events and professional development opportunities
  • Gifts from program sponsors from around the country
  • A $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation


Awards are rotated annually between elementary and secondary math and science teachers. This year, elementary teachers with at least five years of experience are eligible. Applications are due by May 1, 2008.
