Startup@Kauffman event to kick off Global Entrepreneurship Week KC 2012, spotlighting local and regional entrepreneurs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 3, 2012) – The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is accepting applications from Kansas City area entrepreneurs who want to present their startup businesses to an audience of potential advisers, mentors, partners and peers on Monday, Nov. 12.

Startup@Kauffman Demo Day will kick off a full slate of Kansas City activities in support of Global Entrepreneurship Week, which runs Nov. 12-18.

Approximately 10 local startups will be selected to present at Startup@Kauffman Demo Day, which will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 12 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center.

They will be joined on stage by several other local companies that presented at the inaugural Startup@Kauffman event in June (during One Week KC), as well as selected entrepreneurs from Omaha, Des Moines and other areas of the Midwest.

In total, founders from approximately 25 startups will have an opportunity to share their businesses' successes and needs.

Local entrepreneurs can apply online at www.demodaygew2012.istart.org through Oct. 21. Those selected to pitch and demo their companies will be notified Nov. 2.

"We are thrilled to host another Startup@Kauffman event after seeing the tremendous response that our initial demo day generated in June," said Cameron Cushman, manager of entrepreneurship at the Kauffman Foundation. "This event will be even bigger and better – with more entrepreneurs presenting, an exhibit hall component and an outstanding lunchtime speaker. It's an ideal way to kick off GEW-KC and advance Kansas City's efforts to be America's most entrepreneurial city."
