Construction of new school campus at 63rd St. and Paseo progressing toward August opening for 2013-14 school year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 9, 2013) – Enrollment of a new class of fifth-grade students for the Ewing Marion Kauffman School's 2013-14 school year begins today and continues through March 1. Interested families within the boundaries of the Kansas City Public Schools may submit an enrollment application online at www.kauffmanschool.org or at the school at 4251 Bridger Road (in Kansas City's Westport neighborhood).
Families are also invited to attend an information session to learn more about the Kauffman School and its mission to create college graduates. Hour-long sessions will be held Jan. 29 (6-7 p.m.) and Feb. 9 (10-11 a.m.) at the school's Westport location. No reservation is required.
Meanwhile, construction is progressing on schedule for the Kauffman School's new campus at 63rd Street and The Paseo. The new facility, built on a site formerly occupied by the Church of the Nazarene World Headquarters, will open in August to welcome students and faculty for the new school year.
The new school campus will allow the Kauffman School to grow in terms overall enrollment and number of grades served. A new fifth-grade class will be added each year until the school is complete from grades 5 through 12.
Inspired and supported by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Kauffman School opened in August 2011. The public charter school is tuition-free and provides students a rigorous college preparatory curriculum. The Kauffman School is led by Paul Greenwood, Head of School, and Principal Hannah Lofthus.
