Kauffman's 1 Million Cups programs will provide entrepreneurs, who will present their business ideas on air; America votes on best idea
The Kauffman Foundation's 1 Million Cups startup education program will vet budding businesses for a chance to compete on the first-ever weekly live radio entrepreneur competition. Dream Big America is a nationally syndicated radio show that will feature entrepreneurs showcasing their business concepts and allow listeners to vote on the winning idea. The first show will take place on July 9, 2013, at www.dreambigamerica.us.
In each of its member cities across the country, 1 Million Cups programs feature two local entrepreneurs, who present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors and entrepreneurs. The best entrepreneurial presenters will appear on Dream Big America.
"We are excited to partner with Dream Big America. The show will provide a unique platform for exposure and support for our entrepreneurs," said Nate Olson, a Kauffman Foundation associate who leads the 1 Million Cups program. "1 Million Cups will serve as the feeding mechanism for this show, and each of our sites across the country will have an opportunity to showcase the amazing startups from their communities."
Radio host Doug Stephan will air the 30-minute Dream Big America show from 9:10 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. ET each Tuesday on his Good Day program, reaching 485 markets and more than 3.5 million weekly listeners. Dream Big America will feature three entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas for two minutes each, followed by a rotating panel of three acclaimed business leaders who offer feedback and suggestions.
