(Kansas City, Mo.) Feb. 10, 2016 – While a long-term decline in new business creation – the driving force of new jobs in the United States – has created a “startup deficit,” the right public policies can help foster an era of renewed entrepreneurial growth. That is the theme of the Kauffman Foundation’s seventh annual State of Entrepreneurship Address, which will be streamed live from the National Press Club on Feb. 17 at 12:15 EST.

This year’s event will present the “New Entrepreneurial Growth Agenda,” a digital book containing dozens of essays of policy proposals from leading economists and entrepreneurial researchers, such as:

  • Reducing risk for potential entrepreneurs through new “entrepreneurship insurance”
  • Increasing federal research and development investments to catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Expanding the labor force through a startup visa that would create a pathway for immigrant entrepreneurs

Following an address by Kauffman Foundation President and CEO Wendy Guillies, Representative Steve Chabot – Chairman of the House Small Business Committee - will speak on how Congress can empower America’s entrepreneurs

A panel of contributors, led by Bloomberg View Columnist Paula Dwyer, will present recommendations for how to support entrepreneurship and business growth. Former U.S. Senator Bob Bennett and former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman will provide political commentary and feedback on the New Entrepreneurial Growth Agenda.

The event will be streamed live beginning at 12:15 EST at www.kauffman.org/SOE2016.
