The Kauffman Foundation presented a live Webcast of its State of Entrepreneurship Address presented by Kauffman President and CEO Carl Schramm at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Schramm assessed the outlook for entrepreneurship in 2010, including the challenges facing new businesses and solutions for fueling job growth as part of the economic recovery.
Following the address, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke provided remarks about the administration's plans to encourage the growth of entrepreneurship.
The Webcast included a panel discussion featuring
Carl Schramm and:
- Reggie Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Cvent, a Washington-based profitable venture-backed CRM software company with 500+ employees
- Frank L. Douglas, president and CEO of the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron, Ohio and former founder and executive director of Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Center for Biomedical Innovation
- Mary Naylor, founder and CEO of VIPdesk, a pioneer of premium home-based contact center solutions and concierge services with a client roster of more than 70 blue-chip clients with over 10 million customers
