4.0 Schools is a nonprofit incubator of education entrepreneurs. The unique training sequence developed by 4.0 equips bold, curious people to build breakthrough school models and education startups to address some of the most pressing challenges in education. Dedicated to testing ideas early, at a small scale, and in close partnership with students, families, and teachers, 4.0 Schools is committed to the belief that a startup or new school should not be created until a leader in the community proves that there is authentic community demand for the product, tool, service or school model.
During the last five years, 4.0 Schools’ 750 alums have collectively launched 52 schools and education support organizations serving over 250,000 students, teachers, and families nationwide. 4.0 Schools’ graduates have earned fellowships or awards from the Aspen Institute, Camelback Ventures, Echoing Green, New Schools for New Orleans, and the Teach For America Social Innovation Award, and have been recognized by media outlets such as CNN, Forbes, Fast Company, and the Huffington Post.
Through its Community Catalyst program, 4.0 Schools trains others who are passionate about this work to build and sustain education entrepreneurship communities in their own cities. To date, 4.0 Schools has partnered with Community Catalysts in Birmingham, AL, Washington, DC, Charlottesville, VA, Austin, TX, Kansas City, MO, Denver, CO, and Los Angeles, CA. These Community Catalysts help propel 4.0 Schools’ work to create communities that connect people dedicated to building the future of school.
