KCSourceLink Report Examines Entrepreneurship in Kansas City

The Kauffman-sponsored “We Create KC” report is organized around six imperatives identified as key areas of development in the region’s efforts to nurture entrepreneurship and economic growth.

KCSourceLink released a look at the Kansas City region’s delivery on the Big 5 initiative defined by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce to become America’s most entrepreneurial area.

The Kauffman-sponsored “We Create KC” report is organized around the following six imperatives that were identified as key areas of development in the region’s efforts to nurture entrepreneurship and economic growth:

Maximize entrepreneurial-support resources

  1. Tell the story
  2. Create a strong entrepreneurial pipeline of ideas
  3. Build entrepreneurial talent
  4. Dramatically increase available startup and growth capital
  5. Engage the broader corporate community

In addition, the report details several of the community’s recent entrepreneurial achievements, highlights data on high-growth firms, and spotlights eight local businesses across four “quadrants of entrepreneurship” — startup, microenterprise, Main Street, and innovation-led.

Founded in 2003, KCSourceLink connects a network of more than 200 nonprofit resource organizations that provide business-building services for small businesses in the Kansas City region.
