Barbara Pruitt serves as a director of Communications for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, providing leadership and support for a variety of communications initiatives.
Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Pruitt was national director of public relations for The HNTB Companies, and led strategic communications initiatives for the internationally known architecture and engineering firm based in Kansas City, Missouri.
Previously, Pruitt was a founding principal at Blades and Associates public relations agency in Kansas City.
Formerly, Pruitt was a broadcast journalist with public radio station KCUR 89.3 FM in Kansas City, Missouri and with WIBW-TV 13 in Topeka, Kansas.
Pruitt is the recipient of more than two dozen awards from the Kansas City chapters of the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators, and the national Society for Marketing Professional Services.
She is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) by the Public Relations Society of America, and served as president of the Greater Kansas Chapter of PRSA.
Pruitt earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
