Mark Brinkley is the internal auditor for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he works with management to ensure a calculated risk-taking culture throughout the organization by leveraging risk mitigation and control practices.
Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Brinkley was the director of field underwriting for Farmers Insurance Group, where he developed and implemented a quality assurance program and execution plan ensuring strong execution of underwriting philosophy and monitored the underwriting practices of field agents. Earlier, he was the vice president of internal audit at Zurich Financial Services, where he led transformation of the North America audit group to a global mindset. He also served as chief financial officer with Bell Groups in Olathe, Kan., where he directed the startup of all accounting, reporting, and cash management functions of the organization.
Brinkley earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Southern Nazarene University School of Business in Bethany, Okla. He is a certified internal auditor, certified financial services auditor, and earned certification in risk management assurance from the Institute of Internal Auditors in Altamonte Springs, Fla. He is on the editorial advisory board of the International Institute of Internal Auditors, and is the author of two published works in Internal Auditor and CSA Sentinel.
