Director of Knowledge Engineering in Investments

Bill Weeks is the director, Knowledge Engineering in Investments for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he is part of a team that manages the Foundation's $1.7 billion portfolio. Weeks contributes to a broad range of investment initiatives, including the development of asset allocation and investment models, risk analysis, opportunity cost measurement, and research and investigation into alpha generation techniques for the Kauffman Foundation's portfolio. Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Weeks was a senior quantitative researcher at the American Century Research Center with American Century Investments in Kansas City, where he worked on algorithmic investment model research and development. Earlier, Weeks was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla), where he also completed research in two-dimensional communication theory.

Weeks earned bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and physics from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. He earned a master's degree and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Weeks is a member of several professional associations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), the IEEE Information Theory Society, Eta Kappa Nu, and Tau Beta Pi.
