This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy: Omnibus Work Looming

The week ahead looks to be a busy one for Congress -- with Friday the deadline to pass an omnibus bill that keeps the U.S. government funded and moving along as usual. Of course, not everyone thinks that Congress can get everything finished by Friday, including new Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan. While members deal with the massive spending measure, there are several hearings and meetings of note.

On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will meet to review the nomination of Darryl L. DePriest to be the Chief Counsel for the Office of Advocacy at the Small Business Administration. According to the White House, DePriest is currently the Senior Consultant for Legal and Regulatory Communications for Hill + Knowlton Strategiesand prior to that was the General Counsel of the American Bar Association from 1988 until 2006.

On the House side, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform examines the prevalence of internet gambling and mobile technology while the Small Business Committee looks at "empowering small business advocates."

Other topics covered in hearings this week include: the future of biotech, ACA and state insurance marketplaces, regulatory reform and immigration.
