2013-2017

The Kauffman Foundation's annual Mayors Conference on Entrepreneurship brings mayors, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship experts together to discuss ways to promote startup activity and encourage higher levels of entrepreneurship in their cities.

Mayors and entrepreneurs collaborate and align their objectives, creating a new national community where the most difficult problems are addressed using the best aspects of public and private approach. This network will exist beyond this conference and support efforts beyond the events of the conference.

2018

The Mayors Conference on Entrepreneurship is not a conference built around keynote speakers and endless slide decks. It is built and run with the spirit of collaboration. There were no lectures on what the mayors could do better; instead, the Mayors Conference provided the space for mayors to discuss metrics, innovative policies, and ways to take action.

In 2018, more than 142 city officials, including 102 mayors, attended the Mayors Conference on Entrepreneurship in Kansas City, Missouri. The themes of the conference included: mayors understanding their own data and economic metrics, discovering innovative policies that improve economic outcomes, and implementing those policies within their unique cities.
