Donell Hammond

Donell Hammond is director of Technology and interim leader at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he develops and executes the strategy for the Technology department to advance critical technology priorities, coordinate infrastructure and service delivery, and provide ongoing support and maintenance to keep all systems running effectively.

The Technology department works closely with associates to increase access and opportunities at Kauffman and in communities both locally and nationally through the areas of technology operations, enterprise and programmatic data, programmatic support, enterprise applications, digital operations and support, and information security.

Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Hammond was a senior interface architect and manager at Cerner Corporation, providing strategic oversight of information technology activities by leading U.S. and international teams to develop standards around foreign system interface design and build within the healthcare field. As a team and project leader, Hammond balanced strategic decisions and financial discipline with a hands-on approach to leadership – resulting in a strong employee, patient, and physician satisfaction along with execution toward goals through effective communication between key stakeholders, senior leadership, and project teams.

Hammond brings over 10 years of experience in information technology and has a diverse background in both nonprofit and corporate settings, with extensive experience in research, instructional, healthcare solutions, program and project management, data, and SaaS application implementation.

Hammond has a Master of Business Administration and Information Technology from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems from Friends University. In addition, Hammond is a 2022 Centurion program graduate and sits on community boards focused on digital equity and community impact.
