Leslie Smith is a postsecondary retention specialist with Kauffman Scholars, Inc. (KSI), where she works with more than 100 scholars at the collegiate level, guiding and nurturing their academic, social and emotional growth, contributing to her students’ goal of overall postsecondary success.
Prior to joining KSI as a postsecondary advisor in July 2016, Smith served as a college adviser with the Missouri College Advising Corps (MCAC) at Center Senior High School. As an MCAC adviser, she conducted workshops on financial aid, scholarships and ACT prep, organized college fairs for students and maintained strong relationships with school administration, parents and students.
Smith is very involved with Kansas City Scholars, a city-wide scholarship program, as a member of the selection criteria committee and the program implementation committee. She earned a bachelor’s degree in wildlife sciences with a minor in biology from the University of Missouri.
