Solissa McKay joined Kauffman Scholars, Inc. (KSI) in January 2013. She currently serves as the alumni development coordinator, where she manages the Kauffman Alumni network and creates opportunities for KSI alumni to stay connected to the Kauffman Foundation and Kansas City community. Additionally, McKay supervises the Kauffman Scholar Alumni Council and works in tandem with KSI’s career development coordinator to provide career and professional development opportunities for both scholars and alumni.
Prior to joining KSI, McKay worked as an academic advisor for a local university and also taught middle school communication studies and world geography at an area charter school. McKay holds a Bachelor of Arts in middle school education, a state certification in English and history (grades 5–9) and a master’s in higher education administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
McKay serves on the board of directors for Scoula Vita Nuova Charter School in northeast Kansas City and is an active member of the UMKC School of Education alumni board.
