Launched as a Foundation initiative in 1995 and later spun out as an independent entity in 2000, the Kauffman Fellows Program is a two-year leadership and education fellowship for venture capital investors, designed to build a more skilled and diverse venture capital community. Today, with more than 1,000 Kauffman Fellows globally, the organization defines itself as “a lifelong learning community for people who are changing the face of venture capital.” It aligns with Mr. Kauffman’s ideals – the importance of education, getting to the root of issues, and, ultimately, that the Fellowship is more about building human capital than financial.
