Position Reports To: Lead Horticulturist (Ewing & Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden)
Effective Date: Immediately
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried

Position Summary

This action-oriented position is responsible for helping with the overall horticultural design, installation, and maintenance of the Kauffman Memorial Garden and designated areas within Kauffman Legacy Park. The highest quality and execution should be focused on these various areas, providing visitors with the experience of a premier display garden. The horticulturist is a team member who works with the lead horticulturist and aids in teaching volunteers sound gardening practices. This position is an outdoor/indoor position and applicants must be able to perform manual work under climatic conditions typical of Kansas City, Missouri.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or a related field and two years’ experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant material, landscape maintenance techniques, and the ability to design and install garden beds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse audience.
  • The ability to safely lift 50 pounds and be capable of bending and squatting many times a day.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary of $45,000 – $55,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
