Letters of Interest process

For Research grant opportunities, applicants are invited to complete a Letter of Interest (LOI) within our grants portal. After review, selected projects are invited to submit a full proposal for funding consideration.

The process

Research grant opportunities follow a five-step process, outlined below:

  1. Explore funding opportunities | Research grant opportunities are published outlining goals, strategies, and processes.
  2. Complete a letter of interest | Follow the steps in the grants portal to submit LOI, outlining your proposed research concept and request to receive funding.
  3. Selections made | LOI are reviewed. Some are selected to move forward in the application process. If selected, you will be notified to submit a full proposal.
  4. Submit full proposal | Follow the steps in the grants portal to submit a full proposal, detailing your research concept, and how it will align with the strategies and goals of the grant.
  5. Funding awarded | Full proposals are reviewed and recipients selected. You will be notified whether you receive funding.

A panel of the Foundation’s Research, Learning, and Evaluation (RLE) staff and impact officers will review all LOI. The panel will also review full proposals and send them to external content experts for peer review.
