Drawing on decades of education work, the Foundation founded the Ewing Marion Kauffman School in 2010, a public charter school in Kansas City designed to demonstrate high academic performance for students from traditionally underserved communities. The school’s mission: create college graduates.
The Kauffman School upholds the belief that strong results translate into hope and opportunity for students and families. During the 2023-24 school year, the Kauffman School outperformed Kansas City Public Schools in all five content areas of the End-Of-Course Exam and surpassed the state average in sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade math.
The school also ranked as the eighth best-performing district in Missouri for eighth-grade math proficiency and is in the top quartile of all Missouri districts in overall math performance.
