Michael Evangelist

Michael Evangelist is a senior data officer with the Research, Learning, and Evaluation team at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he implements the RLE team’s data strategy and operationalizes data analysis to inform policy and local activities in alignment with the Foundation’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Evangelist was a senior policy analyst and researcher in the Regional and Community Outreach department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. With the Fed, he contributed to the development of the nation’s first-ever statewide survey of household wealth. Evangelist has volunteered for the U.S. Peace Corps in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Evangelist earned his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Notre Dame and his Master of Social Work, Master of Public Policy, and Doctorate in Sociology and Social Work from the University of Michigan.
