The Kauffman Foundation welcomed representatives from 22 community partners to a design thinking workshop this week. Presented by leadership firm and IDEO partner, ExperiencePoint, the half-day workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of design thinking and gave them the opportunity to practice applying these skills in a technology-enabled simulation.
The design thinking process uses a human-centered, designer's sensibility. The approach involves observing people, generating ideas, testing solutions and developing innovations that solve problems. It has been applied broadly to meet business objectives and address social issues.
The workshop drew representatives from a wide range of local organizations, including The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, Center School District, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Kansas City Startup Foundation and Teach for America – Kansas City.
