A regional collaborative that pairs Kansas City students with area businesses for paid professional student experiences is ready to build on the momentum of last summer.

Now in its second year, ProX – a regional collaborative that pairs Kansas City students with area businesses for paid professional work summer experiences – is ready to build on the momentum of last summer.

Program Director Michael Robins joined the ProX team earlier this year having most recently served as a teacher and administrator at Central High School in the Kansas City, Missouri, Public School District. A Kansas City native, Robins said ProX allows him to expand his reach to serve more students. “The professional opportunities ProX makes possible can be truly life-changing for all students in Kansas City.”

The program will expand this year to meet the outstanding demand from student applicants and employers. Robins said the goal is to have 800 students complete the five-week summer experience with placements among more than 100 Kansas City businesses.

For businesses and organizations in Kansas City – big and small – that can provide a valuable five-week work experience for high school students, ProX takes care of everything to make it happen, even help to design a summer experience.

ProX includes access to a diverse, young talent pool, student stipends, and professional coaching. For employers, the process is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Complete the employer form.
  2. Answer the call from a ProX employer coordinator.
  3. Attend the hiring fair from 8 a.m. to noon on March 18.
