Ernestine Key is a program officer in Education for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where she supports Real World Learning and other education-focused initiatives through maintaining a diverse grant portfolio focused on the Kansas City region.

Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Key was a program associate for Communities Foundation of Texas, where she supported strategic initiatives in service to the expansion and continuous improvement of the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) strategic staffing school turnaround model. Earlier, she was a senior program associate for Steans Family Foundation, where she codeveloped a programmatic strategy to support youth transitioning into high school as well as college graduates transitioning into meaningful work opportunities.

Key has a Master of Science in instructional design, development, and evaluation from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Bradley University.
